What are some good board games to play with my wife?

Mar 7th, 2010

My wife and I are looking for some good that are suitable for two people. Many such as Clue, etc you need at least three people. We just have her and I. We have played Sorry, Life, Payday and Scrabble, but now need new .

Any suggestions?

Try Scene it which covers a lot of different movie, music and Sports. You will need a DVD player as well though.

I love to play Yahtzee, with anyone willing to play against me! My beau and I learned some Dominos games too, which are really fun. Not really board games but both are good classic games.

There are a lot of board games and card games that are fine for two people. Cribbage, and Double Solitaire are a lot of fun, and you can play two handed Canasta easily enough. Parcheesi is OK with two, though it IS better with four. Chinese Checkers is OK with two, and the strategy games like Chess, Go, and even regular checkers are fun. If you have a really twisted mind, you can play the Steve Jackson game, Nightmare Chess (look it up on the website, it is SO weird!), which uses Chess and a card set to modify the regular chess rules in all kinds of weird ways. There will be a video up on My Space pretty soon of a live action Nightmare Chess game played at the Marcon Science Fiction convention this year, try to catch it when it comes up.

My wife and I love to play backgammon together. We keep it fresh by playing three different versions. Risk is better with more people, but there are special rules for two player games.

Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/4390 is a great game for two people. It can either be played seriously, or can be played as a “light” game just for fun.

It is also fun with 3, 4, or five, but I find it works best with two or three.

I also think Board Game Geek is a great place to find out lots of info on board games.
